Our horses are at the very core of what we do here at Healing Hands. These equines are now doted on by children who themselves have been through many similar circumstances. The experiences of the horses give them the ability of reach out to kids in a unique way, making them what we call “equine counselors.”

For the many equines who call this place home, Healing Hands offers a safe haven, a gentle hand and a life purpose. Our training and riding methods are based on the theories of natural horsemanship, which utilize quietness and patience to communicate with horses in their own language, focusing on developing a trust relationship with these magnificent creatures.

ZZ

ZZ was born on September 15th, 2003 and came to live with us at the ranch in July of 2010. ZZ is a lovely, gentle, very relaxed and laid back sorrel gelding.

Winchester

Winchester

Winchester came to live on the ranch as a 7 year old in July of 2011. He was given to us by a friend who was not in a position to maintain his upkeep and she wanted him to have a good home.

Chesney

Chesney

Chesney was the first horse acquired by HHYR in 2009. She is a Red Roan Appaloosa mare born in 1999.
Chesney has survived several injuries and one life threatening exposure to a deadly parasite.
Without a doubt, Chesney was meant to be here as part of our Ranch Family. She is a delight to many.

Reno

Reno

Reno came to join our ranch in February 2011. Reno, a sorrel and white mustang started his life in April of 2006 in the Snowstorm Mountains in Winnemucca, Nevada.

Jack

Jack

Jack arrived at the ranch just on time to be the star in Liberty Hill United Methodist Church’s first live nativity scene in December of 2010. Jack was born on February 1st, 1995 and spent a good part of his life in a petting farm environment.

BB

BB

BB is a miniature Bethlehem Burro who originally arrived at our ranch as a 2 year old in spring of 2010 for a temporary stay, Temporary – Uh-huh.

Canoso

Canoso

Canoso is a flea bitten grey quarter horse that was born in 2000. He joined family at 8 years old in 2008 as a personal horse for the youngest Simonis daughter.
Over time, he has become a “go to” for young children in our program. Canoso is a real gentleman and a caretaker ~ he really enjoys his time with young people.

Dante

Dante

Dante is a Mustang from the wilds of Nevada. He was born in the Early spring of 2011 and captured by the Bureau of Land Management on April 1, 2011. Dante came to live at Healing Hands Youth Ranch in the spring of 2012 through the youth program of “The Mustang Makeover.” Dante enjoys hanging out with his best buddy ZZ when he is not being a teacher for us humans.
